The skating season is almost here

Our first night of skating is coming up this Tuesday December 8, 2015, ice conditions permitting. I will be at the rink regardless to accept memberships and to allow people to select their club skates. See you at the rink!

Speed skating coming soon!

Our first night of skating will be Tuesday December 8, 2015. The season runs through to Thursday February 25, 2016. We will be skating between 7:30 and 8:30pm every Tuesday and Thursday. Please note that the rink is closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

I am really looking forward to getting back on the ice, after watching the ISU World Cup short track speed skating meet at the MasterCard Centre last weekend, and then the long track World Cup at the Calgary Olympic Oval. Video of some of these races are available on CBC Sports

That's all, folks

It seems rather premature, given how cold it is, but tonight is our last night for this season. We'll have our end-of-season social hour after we get off the ice.

If you rented club skates this season, please return them tonight or contact me to arrange a time to drop them off at my house.

It's been a good year for the club. We've got some new members and quite a few people who've come out to try speed skating. Keep spreading the word about the club so that we can continue skating twice a week.

Another great season of speed skating

My apologies for the late notice, but I was hopeful that our season might be extended. However, earlier today I was told the leaking roof needs to be repaired immediately before it gets any more serious.

As a result, tomorrow night is our last night of speed skating this season - Thursday February 20 – All are welcome
We will have our end of season soiree after we get off the ice tomorrow. Pizza will be provided. Please feel free to bring a treat to share. Current members, members from past seasons and people who tried speed skating with us even for a night are all welcome to join us on the ice and at our get-together after this Thursday.

Please return your club skates
If you have club skates, please return them tomorrow night at the rink, or else contact me to arrange a time to drop them off at my house.

Hope to see you tomorrow night,

Jay

Skating season is coming

The City has sent me the ice permit paperwork, so winter must be coming! Our first night of skating will be Tuesday December 3, 2013. The season runs through to Thursday February 20, 2014.

For parents with kids who want to learn how to speed skate, the City is offering a nine-week Learn to Speed Skate program at Commander Arena starting this Thursday October 10 or Sunday October 13. Our friends at the Toronto Speed Skating Club instruct this program; it's good! Click here for further information.
